HUA 214 — History of Illustration

This course will examine the history of illustration from illuminatedmanuscripts to modern sequential narratives by considering the artworkwithin its socio-cultural context. With the aid of primary source readings,illustrated books, and comics, students will learn to understand the uniquepower illustration has had in the history of art to convey ideas, toeditorialize events, and to enhance literature.
