HUC 275 — American Film Comedy

This course surveys American film comedy through the study of comic performers and comic styles of film-making. It explores such areas as the difference between physical and verbal comedy and why we laugh at slapstick. The course includes in-class screenings and discussions. Contributions by comedians from a variety of ethnic backgrounds are highlighted. Suggested comic artists include Charlie Chaplin, Bill Cosby, W.C. Fields, the Marx Brothers and Mae West.
