HUM 241 — Improv for Contemp Musician
This course explores the skills and techniques necessary in performing improvised music. Open to instrumentalists and vocalists, students examine the use of improvisation in a variety of music genres including jazz, blues, world music, funk, rock and pop. Through the theoretical study of scales, arpeggios, diatonic and functional harmony, and rhythm students will enrich their musical pallette. Students will also study improvised music through transcription. This course culminates with a public performance.
