SSH 114 — Modern Japanese History
This course will cover the history of Japan from the beginning of the Tokugawaera (1600) to the present, with the goal of providing a comprehensive understanding of the political, economic, and socio-cultural changes that occurred during this period. Throughout the course we will consider such themes as isolationism, fascism, imperialism, democracy, minorities, capitalism and gender in the context of modern Japan.CUNY Pathways: Flexible Core-World Cultures & Global Issues
