BAS300 — Intro to Career Pathways ABE

The purpose of this class is to help students develop a career pathway, a clear sequence of education or training that is aligned with the skill needs of employers and leads to the attainment of industry-recognized degrees or credentials and that also includes steps to overcoming barriers to success. The first two weeks of this class comprise an orientation session that students must complete with 100% attendance to continue in the program. The orientation session will include program goal setting, career interest survey, exposure to high priority occupations, Lehigh Valley targeted industry clusters, time management skills, problem solving skills, program policy and procedures, community building, and learning style inventories. The remainder of the session will include instruction on soft skills (working in teams, self management skills, organization, etc), completion of skill inventories, research on careers of interest, and the development of a career pathway. As part of this class, students will particiapte in a field trip to area programs, including LCTI and LCCC main campus.
