BAS341 — GED Reading
This Career Pathways class for low and high adult secondary education level readers is to prepare students to take the GED examination prepare for college classes/job training programs, and improve reading skills on the job. Reading activities offered in this classroom will help students increase vocabulary, comprehension, analysis, inference, and critical thinking skills. Students will read passages and gain some critical background knowledge in science, social studies, and literature. Exposure will also be given reading tables, charts, and graphs. All activities should have a workforce focus or application, which is communicated to the student. Students will have some exposure to college level textbooks to develop familiarity with reading in content areas. Students will also recieve study and note taking skills. Students will be asked to write short responses to the readings in the class--a reading journal is a recommended practice.
