BAS418 — Spanish for Spanish Speakers

0 credits · 50 hours

This class is designed for native speakers of Spanish who want to improve their basic reading and writing skills in Spanish in order to be more fully bilingual for the workplace or to show readiness in GED Prep in Spanish classes. Instruction in reading will cover fluency, vocabulary development, and comprehension skills (reading for main idea, paraphrasing, accessing prior knowledge, fact vs. opinion, ect). The writing component will start with basic grammar concepts, sentence construction, paragraphs, letters, and personal essays. Contexts for reading will include the workplace, as well as "GED" subject areas--science, social studies, and literature. Instruction will be delivered solely in Spanish, and students will receive an assessment of their skills at the beginning and end of the course. This course essentially corresponds to the Pre GED level of LCCC's GED Preparation program.
