This class is designed for individuals who need to improve their math skills for the workplace or who want to review for the college placement test. Whole number, fraction, and decimal math facts will include place value, adding/subtracting, multiplying/dividing, estimating/rounding, exponents, order of operations, equivalencies, factoring, etc. Ratio/proportion and percents will also be covered. Practice will be given in computation skills, but emphasis will be on application and problem solving. The application of math skills may include measurements, basic geometric calculations (perimeter and area), budgeting, probability, consumer math, and work-based problem solving. Calculators will be used as tools in this class; however, both calculator and non-calculator math computation skills will be developed. Students will receive a math assessment (TABE Survey Math, Level D or KeyTrain diagnostic assessment) at the start of the class and at the end of the class to monitor growth.
