BAS437A — Even Start SUMMER
The Even Start Summer program offers adult education, PACT, and parenting ed instruction to ESL and ABE students. Theme based units centered around the statewide summer reading program suggest activities for introducing basic literacy and parenting skills. Adult ed activities include theme- based vocabulary, internet scavenger hunts, map reading, reading labels, etc. Parenting ed activities may include nutrition, first-aid, CPR, getting prepared for kindergarten, etc. PACT activities bring the parent and child together to put what is being learned into practice. A field trip to a related location will be scheduled every week. PACT activities at the library will involve story time, learning to use the library, and participation in the library's summer reading program. Courses are open enrollment.
