BAS501C — Intro to ESL
This FREE course is designed for people who need survival skills in the U.S. The course includes conversation, as well as basic grammar and vocabulary. Students take part in scripted and unscripted conversations thereby developing competence in communication in English. Reading exercises allow students to learn vocabulary in context and develop the skills needed to interact with written resources in the community. A civics/citizenship component is incorporated in curriculum. Instruction is contextualized around work and academic goals. Students must attend a placement test session and a 5 hour orientation period before being enrolled in this class.
