BAS545 — ESL Discussion Group
The ESL Discussion Group is a practical class in which students develop social, academic, and work-related speaking and listening skills. The course will present topics for discussion and debate, such as food, careers, and community issues/resources, the immigrint experience, popular entertainment, health, current events, parenting, and world cultures. Guest speakers may be invited to give students opportunities to listen to native English speakers and ask questions of the speakers. The discussions that stem from the topics introduced will be facilitated by the instructor but will be loosely structured conversations among students. This class is designed to give students practice in using the speaking and listening skills that they are learning in Introduction to ESL, BAS 500 and Foundations of ESL, BAS 540.
