Develop English language skills for social and academic communication. This integrated multi-skills course combines listening, speaking, writing, reading, and grammar in which students' goals and writings determine the curriculum. Instruction will focus on keeping students actively involved in the learning process so they can determine what skills they need to accomplish their individual goals. Transition to post-secondary education topics will include educational planning, note-taking, navigating websites, using email, taking tests, accessing college resources, finding information, understanding the admissions process, and gaining exposure to credit ESL classes. Transition to work topics will include choosing a career path, career planning, job search, on-the-job skills, career exposure, interviewing, resume writing, writing cover letters, filling out applications, networking, teamwork, and workplace culture.
