This class will deliver English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction to individuals at NRS levels of High Intermediate to Advanced ESL. This class will include activities to improve students' speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills and to help give them the language skills necessary to navigate in English speaking community. Course content will relate to student goals/needs and should reflect the contexts--workplace, family, school, and community--related to their goals and needs. Topics may include but are not limited to occupations, work readiness, health. Students will build vocabulary in these areas to increase speaking and writing proficiency. American culture/customs, community resources, transitioning to the community college, and civics/citizenship. Grammar structures introduced in this level include prepositions, comparative, future tense, simple past of regular and irregular verbs, past continuous, complex/compound sentence construction modals, and count/noncount words.
