The GED Prison prep class is designed to prepare students for the GED Test. The initial component of the course is the administration of TABE testing. Based on TABE results, individual and group instruction subjects vary to meet student needs. The reading component teaches comprehension skills and gives the student practice reading materials in literature, science, and social studies. The writing component stresses grammar and usage as well as essay writing. The math component covers whole numbers, fractions, percents, algebra, and geometry, as well as calculator use. The final component is the administration of the GED Pre-test. Students who have scored within the GED testing range are referred to take the official GED Test.
