BSN931 — When Cultures Clash
Raising your cultural intelligence for conducting business in a globally diverse economy- or, can you serve sushi, pizza, kimchi, tandoori chicken and sauerkraut at the same dinner party? The Lehigh Valley?s economic development organizations and educational communities have taken significant strides in addressing the business challenges of a rapidly expanding global economy. This unique, first-time offering will focus, instead, on the ?softer skills needed in dealing with people of different cultures. It is about raising the Cultural Intelligence of the business community; to create cross-cultural skills that make it more effective to conduct business in a global economy. The workshop will be highly interactive with strong emphasis on involvement and inclusion. Participants will be encouraged to share their global cultural experiences. There will be debate, dissent, and discussion! Guest lecturers, documentary videos, global media sites, and international publications will all be part of this exciting journey. A final field project will require each participant to select an unfamiliar country/culture and develop a comprehensive understanding to share with the workshop community.
