CAR100 — SEED Career Track Program
The SEED Career Track option is available for students who are interested in designing their own vocational training program. Eligible students are placed into the program through SEED Summer Bridge participation and counseling. Academic/Career Coaches work with the individual to create a person centered plan (PCP) to determine vocational/technical skills needed to achieve competitive employment. Enrollment in the SEED Career Track program includes prevocational skill classes, targeted workshops covering communication, prevocational, relationships, and academic survival skills; work experience opportunities in the chosen field; use of LCCC's computer lab and other facilities; peer/professional mentoring; social activities; and limited participation in the various course offerings of LCCC, especially non-credit courses. Students may be engaged up to 14 hours a week for 15 weeks in lecture or lab activities. Engagement will differ for each participant. One individual may engage in job shadowing for 189 hours of lab participation, with 21 hours of support from Academic/Career Coaches while another student may complete 210 hours participation with no lab time. Each student will have a weekly plan of targeted activities that they are expected to participate in.
