Montessori Education: Environments, Materials, & MethodsMontessori Education is probably one of the more familiar methods to most students, though their understanding of the core beliefs and principles may not be so well understood. This chapter provides students with the background of Montessori's life and method, her founding principles and enduring legacy, and unique aspects of her method. Her goals for edcuation and teachers' role in children's learning are discussed in relation to practices in Montessori classrooms. Students are introduced to samples of the materials that Montessori created to focus children's learning and promote her brand of "auto-education". Students are guided in re-creationg their own materials, aligning with Montessori's creations.
