CAR394 — Physical Develop Early Child
Physical Development in Early ChildhoodIn this workshop students will learn that in early childhood, the rapid increase in body size tapers off and the child's shape become more streamlined, leading to improvements in posture and balance. Between ages 2 and 6, the brain increases from 70 percent of its adult weight to 90 percent. Gross-motor skills, such as running, jumping, and throwing appear and become better coordinated. Gains in fine-motor development are seen in preschoolers' self-help skills, representational drawings, and early printing. As in other areas, heredity and environment combine to influence early childhood motor development.
