CAR598 — Drumming for Wellness
Come feel the beat and rhythm of this interactive session. Participants will be introduced to drumming and drum circles. Learn the history of drum circles and who can benefit from drumming. Explore drumming's use in a variety of settings and with a variety of populations. Attendees will actively participate in a drumming exercise experiencing the tactile, auditory, and visual components of this activity. The benefits and research behind drumming will be reviewed including: the impact on blood pressure, stress, respiration, socialization, full body movements, gentle stretching, BUE coordination, and incorporating guided imagery. Learn about the variety of rhythms and how to incorporate drumming as one of your therapeutic interventions.Participants will be able to:Discuss the history of drummingIdentify client populations and diagnoses who may benefit from drummingDescribe the therapeutic and physiological benefits of drummingDiscuss current research on drumming as a treatment toolDemonstrate basic drumming in a group format
