Attendees will learn about effective use of sensory strategies in the school setting, an interactive review of the sensory systems/neurological processes involve, and the roles of each professional. Participants will be able to identify behaviors noted in the classroom associated with sensory processing differences, evaluate the strengths and limitations of the classroom environment to provide feasible recommendations, and educate practitioners on school-based strategies to effectively support children in their educational environment. Participants will have the opportunity to create sensory friendly, low cost supports for the classroom. An example of a sensory-based curriculum, Zones of Regulation will be introduced, including examples of activities that can be implemented by teachers or therapists.Participants will be able to:Indentify how sensory processing needs of children are managed in the school-based settingDiscuss the strengths and limitations of classroom environments and possible recommendations to support children with sensory needs in the school setting.Demonstrate and create simple and meaningful sensory strategies for the classroom through hands on lab experienceDiscuss the Zones of Regulation and how it is applied in the school setting
