Shelter in Place or Relocate- Critical DecisionsPresenter: Forrest Wieder, Lehigh County Emergency Management AgencyIn the event of a crisis, you may need to decide whether to hold your students or employees in place or to send them away from your facility. What should be considered in this circumstance to assure the safety of all of your people. In some cases, schools or businesses may be given a directive to shelter-in-place. This is a precaution aimed to keep you safe while remaining indoors. Shelter-in-place means selecting a small, interior room, with no or few windows and taking refuge there. It does not mean sealing off your entire school or office building. If you are told to shelter-in-place or make a decision to relocate, what will you need to keep your students, faculty, or staff safe during the emergency?
