FIR411 — Intro to Fire Service- ELIS

This course is designed to introduce new firefighters to basic information including an overview of the fire service, fire service organization, firefighter safety, personal protective equipment and terrorism awareness. This is the first of four courses in the curriculum. Student must secure his or her own copy of the Thompson/Delmar Learning "Firefighter's Handbook Student Workbook/Skill sheet book" Pennsylvania Version which will be used throughout all four courses. Student must have both books for the first class and should read the first chapter prior to this class. Contact home fire company to learn about local requirements for book reimbursement. Student will also need helmet, gloves, turnout coat, turnout pants, boots, protective hood, and protective eyewear (safety glasses or goggles).
