CHM 1130 — Foundations of Chemistry
This course is designed for students to develop a post-secondary level comprehensive understanding of fundamental chemical concepts and principles. It serves as a foundational course for students preparing for further studies in science, health sciences, engineering, or related fields. Students should have an understanding of the following concepts: the basics of matter, how substances can be elements, compounds, or mixtures, and the difference between physical and chemical changes; recognize the structure of the atom (protons, neutrons, electrons), and be able to read simple information from the periodic table; basic math skills, unit conversions and using formulas. Students registered in this course should have completed Science 10 or equivalent. Not available for supplemental. Not eligible for Prior Learning Assessment.
