An exploration into developing an appreciation for literature and to acquire the skills of critical analysis and synthesis of ideas. Topics covered include the elements of fiction and non-fiction, poetic techniques, and conventions of drama. Students will read a variety of literature and both discuss and write short essays describing their responses, analyzing the work, or arguing a position related to an author's ideas. Students registering in this course should have successfully completed ENG-0032 or equivalent, or have been placed at this level through an assessment test. Not available for supplemental. Not eligible for Prior Learning Assessment.
