An introduction to the sociology of aging with a focus on diversity, population aging, and social trends. Exploring how gender, social class, culture and demographics influence age-related experiences in social and recreational activities, work roles, and relationships. Examining the implication of an aging population on health care, pensions, retirement, family support, and death and dying, as well as social problems including poverty and elder abuse.
