HST1700 — Western Civilization I
This course teaches foundational knowledge about the origins and expansion of Western Civilization. It covers the first civilizations in Mesopotamia, and spans historical developments in Ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, and the medieval period. Along with political and social events, the course will explore important cultural features of these civilizations, including their political beliefs, religious creeds, gender roles, social hierarchies, technological innovations, and various types of artistic, philosophical, and literary expression.
