ARCH 214 — Environmental Systems II

This course introduces the impact of daylighting and artificial lighting on the design and use of buildings. Acoustic performance and behavior of sound in buildings will be studied. The course highlights daylighting systems and the integration of electrical lighting, strategies for noise management, room acoustics, as well as a continued introduction to alternate and sustainable building energy systems. A combination of class lectures, physical models, and outside fields trips will be use to present the material. Two lecture and four laboratory hours per week. Pre/ Intermediate Algebra; waiver by placement testing results; or permission of instructor.
