ARCH 230 — Introduction to Sustainability
An introduction to the theory and principles of innovative sustainable construction. The course takes an integrated design and ecological systems approach to high performance green building. Students learn how to reduce the ecological impact of the built environment using cutting-edge best practices. Topics include climate change, green building principles, rating systems, life cycle assessment, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and innovation technologies. Capstone assignment is a student lecture. Two lecture and two laboratory hours per week. Pre/ placement testing results; or permission of instructor.
