ARTG 121 — Introduction to Photography

; Attributes: FA, HU, LA Students learn how to operate a 35mm camera while exploring the fundamentals of photography. Shutter and aperture controls, light meter calculations, adjustable focus, and depth of field are covered. This course stresses photographic composition as a vehicle for artistic expression. Lectures and demonstrations will be combined with developing and printing black and white film using an enlarger in a traditional darkroom. Students are required to have a fully manual camera and tripod. Students supply film, photo paper, developing tanks, and reels. Two lecture and two laboratory hours per week.
