CJUS 234 — Management of Criminal Justice Organizations

This course explores management principles and organizational structures of criminal justice agencies. The basic tenets of planning, organizing, staffing, directing, coordinating, motivating, communicating, and budgeting are explored within the unique context of public safety organizations. Emphasis will be placed on the important functions of line supervision and the symbiotic relationship it shares with management. Contemporary personnel issues and the impact of internal and external influences within agencies are also addressed. 102 English Composition II, GOVT 105 American National Government or GOVT 200 State and Local Government, PSYC 101 General Psychology, and SOCI 104 Principles of Sociology.
