; Attributes: HU, LA This course examines the way that literary works embody themes and motifs found also in myth and folklore: the cycle of human life from conception and birth through initiation, journey, and quest to death; and the appearance of recurrent figures like the hero, the wise fool, and the outcast. This course requires extensive reading and writing.
