MUSC 220 — The African-American Experience through Music

; Attributes: FA, HU, LA This course explores the various musical traditions of Black people, with a specific focus on the United States. It examines the impact of African, European, and Native American traditions on music, as well as the role of music as an expression of Blacks’ aesthetics, traditions, and life. The course considers historical and contemporary forms of music, with selected video presentations of musical styles.
