This course is an in-depth examination of the principles that govern the structure and function of both prokaryotic and eukaryotic genes. Emphasis is placed on gene structure, function, expression, and regulation. The laboratory presents a concise presentation of the state-of-the-art methods utilized in molecular biology, as well as an overview of the far-reaching applications of recombinant DNA technology. Lecture: 3 hours per week. Lab: 3 hours per week. 4 Credits Prerequisites: BI 120 and CH 120
