HM203 — CONFERENCE AND EVENT PLANNING
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the Meetings, Expositions, Events, and Conventions Industry (MEEC). The organizations that support the MEEC industry such as Destination Management Companies (DMC), Destination Marketing Organizations (DMO), Convention Bureaus, Incentive Companies, and Service Contractors are studied. The legal, technological, and sustainable aspects of conference and event planning are examined. Techniques for integrating diversity, equity and inclusion in meetings and events are reviewed. Students have the opportunity to plan and produce an event tailored to the college community. Lecture: 2.5 hours per week. 3 Credits
