This course introduces students to selected works of literature from Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Europe from the eighteenth century to the present day. Readings may be drawn from a range of literary genres. Through literary analysis the course will consider how literature both impacts and reflects the historical time period and culture that generates it. The course will explore ways in which writers from around the world illuminate the human condition. Lecture: 3 hours per week. 3 Credits
