HUM 132 - Introduction to Asian American Studies HUM 132 - Introduction to Asian American Studies 3 Course Description: This course provides an overview of the Asian American experience, past and present. Drawing from both scholarly and creative texts, the course explores the formation of “Asian America,” and why conceptions and understandings of it have shifted over time. Students will examine the Asian American experience within a transnational context, paying particular attention to the ways that Asian American lives have been shaped by the legacies of US wars in Asia and by the history of US racism. A primary goal of the course is to provide students with a basic understanding of the key debates and conversations in the field of Asian American Studies.
