HUS 102 - Alcohol/Substance Abuse Treatment with Groups and Families HUS 102 - Alcohol/Substance Abuse Treatment with Groups and Families 3 Course Description: This course will prepare students to facilitate groups with substance abusers, with couples in which one or both partners are recovering, collaterals of substance abusers, and adult children of substance abusers. Topics covered will include techniques for group leaders in establishing groups, how to overcome defenses and roadblocks in the group setting, and the therapist’s role in the group, as well as transference and countertransference.
