IDS 140 - LGBTQ History in NYC Travel Seminar IDS 140 - LGBTQ History in NYC Travel Seminar 1 Course Description: This interdisciplinary course will introduce students to LGBTQ history in New York City, the center of the modern gay rights movement. Students will visit important landmarks in the LGBTQ Civil Rights movement, such as the Stonewall Inn and Christopher Park, discover gay secrets at the world-famous Metropolitan Museum of Art, and learn about artistic freedom of expression during the Harlem Renaissance. In the evening, students may also attend an award-winning Broadway play and hear the stories of witnesses to history. Students will return with an expanded understanding of time and place in history and the diversity of the human experience.
