LAN 286 - Latin 4 and Roman Culture LAN 286 - Latin 4 and Roman Culture 3 Formerly LAN 190 Course Description: Latin 4 and Roman Culture is a fourth semester world language course. Students will read authentic Latin poetry texts. The study of English derivatives from Latin stems will complement the study of the language while students learn to expand their reading skills to be able to derive probable meaning of simple unknown words from short familiar contexts and scan a simple text, using headings and graphics. They will learn to write in Latin a description of a future event or activity and a story with simple linear sequence. They will gain a deeper understanding and respect for an ancient culture.
