MAT 290 - Calculus I For Engineering and Science MAT 290 - Calculus I For Engineering and Science 4 Course Description: A review of functions including polynomial, rational, conic and trigonometric functions and their graphs; limits; continuity; derivatives of algebraic and transcendental functions, evaluating limits of indeterminate forms using L’Hopital’s Rule; implicit differentiation; related rates; the Mean Value Theorem; applications such as velocity and acceleration; curve sketching; optimization problems; and differentials; Newton’s Method and antiderivatives as time permits. ISLOs: This course supports student development of Critical Thinking, Quantitative Literacy, and Personal and Professional Development.
