NUR 161 - PN Pharmacology and Medication Calculations NUR 161 - PN Pharmacology and Medication Calculations 2 Course Description: In this course the student is introduced to the concepts of basic pharmacology and the role of the practical nurse in the management of drug therapy. The focus is on the NOFNCC Core Competencies© for LPN’s including patient- centered care, safety, communication, evidence-based practice, and system-based practice. Understanding and demonstrating medication calculations is essential to safe medication administration. This course needs to be taken concurrently with NUR 104 PN Fundamentals of Nursing and NUR 105 PN Fundamentals of Nursing Practicum. Students must achieve a grade of C or better in each course.
