PHO 101 - Introduction to Public Health PHO 101 - Introduction to Public Health 3 Course Description: This course provides an overview of public health, historically and in the current era, as collective efforts to prevent disease, promote and maintain health and well-being, and protect the environment. Students will gain knowledge of a methodology for understanding the health of populations and develop critical thinking and decision-making skills in the analysis of public health issues, including through the perspective of the multiple disciplines of public health. The course will provide students with a social, political, and ecological understanding of the causation and prevention of disease with an emphasis on health issues that affect society as a whole. ISLOs: This course supports student development of Social Responsibility, Critical Thinking, and Multicultural and Global Perspectives. May be in minimester format Course Student Learning
