SOC 118 - Multicultural Communications SOC 118 - Multicultural Communications 3 Course Description: The major issues addressed are the various components of ethnic diversity, attitudes toward such diversity, and the implications these two issues hold for human service professionals. A multicultural model of communication is presented. The course provides the opportunity for students considering a career in human services (teaching, mental health, criminal justice, nursing) to broaden their understanding of, and ability to function more effectively with, members of various ethnic and racial groups. ISLOs: This course supports student development of Critical Thinking, Multicultural and Global Perspectives, and Social Responsibility.
