ASLP106 — Fingerspelling and Number Use in ASL

(R only) A foundation for comprehension, expression, and understanding of ASL hand-shapes as they are used in fingerspelling and numbers. The course includes an introduction to historical and physiological aspects of fingerspelling and number use in ASL. The course focuses on development skills for receptive and expressive spelling and reading of fingerspelling words and numbers, on proper biomechanical functions, on recognizing hand movements. Recommended to be taken concurrently with ASLP 105 . Assessment Level(s): ENGL 101 / ENGL 011 . In-class is supplemented by one hour each week in the language learning laboratory. Three hours each week. 3 semester hours Course
