ENGL201 — Introduction to World Literature I
(HUMD, GEIR, GEEL, GCP) An introduction to world literature from antiquity through the mid-17 th century, including oral traditions, poetry, fiction, the essay, and drama. Emphasis is placed on key ideas that express the commonality of the human spirit and experience across cultures. Students read, analyze, and respond critically to texts in class discussions, examinations, and essays. Three hours lecture/discussion each week. 3 semester hours Course
