Explores the fundamental concepts of soil composition and structure, properties of fine-grained soil, compaction, soil classification, soil investigation, test and analysis, nuclear moisture-density relationship, bearing ratio, percolation, and seismograph exploration. Includes the testing of materials used in the various fields of construction. Introduces and observes the principal means of performing destructive and nondestructive tests through field trips to testing laboratories and classroom activities. (Prerequisite: Completion of or concurrent enrollment in 804-195 College Algebra with Applications)
