LECT 45 hrs A survey of the historical development of Latin America focusing on its African multicultural and multi-ethnic populations and its emergence as a force in the 20th century. Students examine original documents in order to analyze the structure of social, economic and cultural relationships. Special attention is paid to the development of Argentina, Mexico and the Caribbean nations and their relationship to the United States.
