PSY 230 — PSY-230. Infant Mental Health. 3 Credits

LECT 45 hrs This course delves into the critical understanding of optimal development in infants and toddlers within the context of primary relationships. Through a multidisciplinary approach, theoretical foundations, contemporary perspectives and practical applications are reviewed regarding the physical, social-emotional, cognitive and language development of infants and toddlers. Emphasizing the significance of caregiving relationships and the role of environmental influences, students will examine interventions, assessment tools, and strategies for supporting infant mental health, fostering a comprehensive understanding of the foundations that shape a child's psychological and educational well-being. Course content is aligned with the national competency standards for the Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential.
