ENG 2773 — AMERICAN LITERATURE TO 1865
Prerequisite: NONE This course will provide a historical survey of the American literary canon from the arrival of the Puritans and Pilgrims to the end of the Civil War period. It will emphasize the religious and political origins of American literature and the process by which writers in America distinguished themselves as American authors, helping to create and to define what "American" means.
