LIT - 160 Short Story/Novel LIT - 160 Short Story/Novel (3 s.h.) This course introduces students to a wide range of authors, writing styles, literary elements, and terminology by examining selected works of fiction in the short story and novel format. Students will learn to speak and write about literature critically and analytically, demonstrating an ability to develop a thesis for a literary essay, support it with textual evidence gleaned from close readings, and critically analyze and interpret a literary narrative. Furthermore, students will learn how literature is a powerful link to our human experience and engage with prominent themes of the human condition.
